Welcome to JHS 226 Virgil I. Grissom!

JHS 226 Virgil I. Grissom is a community school serving grades six through eight in the South Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens, New York. Our robust instructional and extracurricular programming serves all students at every level, providing them with the nurturing and experiences they need to learn and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our diverse instructional program includes Advanced Regents classes and a variety of elective courses, such as Virtually Enterprise Junior Venture, advisory, visual arts, dance, and band. We also host a wide variety of after-school academic and extracurricular activities, including Junior Ambassadors, National Junior Honors Society, basketball, photography, Alvin Ailey dance, Broadway Junior, Young Men/Young Women’s Leadership, Student Government, and ELA/Math enrichment. Each of these programs support our school’s mission to support and empower all students to develop the necessary expertise to meet current and future challenges through learning experiences that promote 21st century skills including collaboration, equity, and critical thinking.
